Nudibranquio Flabellina babai Flabellina babai nudibranch

Here are two very nice photos a a large Flabellina babai nudibranch I found on my first photo dive in a while, at the end of April.  It was trying to climb over a type of "cotton candy" alga, on top of a dark, pin-cushion sponge, so I played with the aperture and camera speed and came up with these two photos.  This beautiful specimen measured about 1.5 inches, which is very large.  Notice its translucent body, its "ceratos", which are the spiky protuberances.  Its tail is clearly seen in the lower photo.  Just a beautiful blending of colors.  This was at a prime site for nudibranchs of the Costa Brava, at a depth of 45 feet and with a temp of 55ºF.  Beautiful.

Hice estas dos fotos a un nudibranquio Flabellina babai grande que encontré en mi primera inmersión de fotografía en mucho tiempo, a finales de abril.  Intentaba trepar por encima de una alga de "pelo fino" que cubre todo a partir de ahora y hasta bien entrado el otoño.  En este caso, tapaba una esponja redonda oscura.  Medía unos 4 cm, más o menos.  Muy grande.  Fijados en su cuerpo traslúcido, sus ceratos y su cola, que se ve bien en la foto de abajo.  Una mezcla de colores bella.  Hice estas fotos en un sitio propicio para nudibranquios de la Costa Brava, a una profundidad de 14 metros y con una temperatura de 13ºC.  Bellísimo.
