Tylodina perversa

This member of the mollusks is truly unique.  I don´t know the English name, so the latin name is what we´ll use:  Tylodina perversa.  You must look closely to distinguish it from one of its favorite food sources, the Verongia aerophobia, or yellow sponge.  The top photo shows it laterally, with its shell almost dead center, with its body a slightly brighter yellow than the sponge.  In the lower photo, head on, one doesn´t know where its body ends and that of the sponge begins.  They´re smallish, around 2" across for its shell, though the body can extend beyond it a few inches front and back.  Really a find, we´ve only seen 4-5 of them in all of our years diving...and all in the same spot!

Este miembro de los moluscos es verdaderamente único.  No sé su nombre inglés, entonces su nombre latín es el que usaremos:  Tylodina perversa.  Has de mirar detenidamente para distinguirlo de uno de sus comidas preferidas, la Verongia aerophobia, o esponja amarilla.  La foto de arriba lo muestra de lado, con su concha justo en el centro, con su cuerpo ligeramente más amarillo que el de la esponja.  En la foto de abajo, de frente, uno no sabe dónde acaba su cuerpo y comienza el de la esponja. Suelen ser pequeños, de 5cm la concha aunque el cuerpo se puede extender más allá de ella varios centímetros delante y detrás.   De verdad, fue una suerte encontrarlo, sólo hemos encontrado 4-5 en todos los años que llevamos buceando...¡y todos los encontramos en el mismo sitio!
