Brown Sea Scorpion (Scorpaena porcus)

This member of the scorpaena family is much smaller than other members of the scorpion fish family.  I´ve never seen one bigger than 10"-12", while the largest members of this family I´ve seen more than twice that size!  Its camuflage and smallish size make it quite adept at surviving and flourishing.  Notice its almost invisible, quite large dorsal fin set, whose quills have a poison in them which will make you remember any painful encounter with one of these.  Tread carefully.
