Nudibranquio Dóndice banyulensis

This beautiful nudibranch (sea slug), Dóndice banyulensis, exemplifies beauty, grace and uniqueness almost impossible to find on land.  I found this wonderful specimen at one of my favorite nudibranch dive-sites, at a depth of around 45 feet (14 meters).  It measured between 1.5"-2".  Its opaque body allows one to see its internal organs, its extraordinarily beautiful branchia jump out at one and its exceedingly long rhinophores are milky white.  Its secondary set, shorter and stockier with concentric rings, are just behind its head.  This was the prize photo for me on this dive.  Enjoy.

Este nudibranquio bellísimo, Dóndice banyulensis, ejemplifica belleza, gracia y singularidad que son casi imposibles encontrar en tierra.  Encontré este ejemplar genial en uno de mis sitios favoritos para nudis, a una profundidad de unos 14 metros.  Midió entre 3,5-5 cm.  Su cuerpo opaco le permite a uno ver sus órganos internos, sus branquias bellísimos saltan a la vista y sus larguísimos rinóforos son de un blanco lechoso.  Su pareja secundaria, más cortos y gruesos, y con anillos concéntricos, se encuentran justo detrás de su cabeza.  Este nudi fue el foto-premio de esta inmersión.  Disfrútalo.
