Nudibranquio Hypselodoris elegans (Hyp. elegans nudibranch)

This nudibranch, Hypselodoris elegans, is the largest species in the Western Mediterranean waters, at least for divers.  They can measure up to 7"-8" in length, and this one was around 6".  It´s one of the most beautiful, and I always marvel at how big and beautiful it is.  You can easily see its branchia, through which it extracts oxygen, at the rear end of its back.  They can be retracted within its body in the event of danger.  Its rhinophores are blue-tipped, and it majestically moves along the ocean bottom looking for food.  Truly beautiful.  Enjoy.

Este nudibranquio, Hypselodoris elegans, es la especie más grande en las aguas del Mediterráneo Occidental, al menos para buceadores.  Pueden alcanzar hasta los 17-20 cm, y de hecho, este alcanzaba los 14-15 cm.  Es uno de los más bellos, y siempre alucino de cuan grande y bello es.  Se puede ver fácilmente sus branquias, por las cuales extrae oxígeno, a la parte posterior de su dorso.  Se pueden retrotraer dentro de su cuerpo si hay peligro.  Sus rinóforos tienen las puntas en azul, y se mueve regalmente por el fondo buscando comida.  Belleza verdadera. ¡ A disfrutarlo!
